Financial Modeling Skills That Actually Stick

We built this program after watching too many analysts struggle with Excel templates they didn't understand. Our approach focuses on teaching you to think through models rather than just copy formulas. Classes start September 2025 in Taipei.

What You'll Learn

This is a six-month program running twice weekly. We cap enrollment at sixteen people because everyone needs time to work through problems and ask questions. The focus is on building models you can adapt rather than memorizing specific templates.

Module 1: Financial Statement Analysis

Before you model anything, you need to read financial statements properly. We'll work through real company reports and identify what matters. You'll learn to spot inconsistencies and understand how operating decisions flow through to the numbers.

Module 2: Building DCF Models

Discounted cash flow models are everywhere in finance, but most people treat them like black boxes. We break down each component and you'll build models from scratch. By the end, you'll know why certain assumptions matter more than others.

Module 3: Comparable Company Analysis

Trading multiples sound simple until you try to apply them. Which companies are actually comparable? How do you adjust for differences? We'll work through sector-specific examples and discuss when comps work and when they mislead.

Module 4: LBO Modeling Fundamentals

Leveraged buyout models involve multiple moving parts and complex debt structures. You'll learn to model different scenarios and understand what drives returns. This module includes case studies from actual deals where structures went wrong.

Module 5: Merger Models and Accretion

M&A modeling requires thinking through transaction structures, synergies, and purchase accounting. We'll build merger models and test various scenarios. The focus is on understanding which assumptions actually impact the outcome.

Module 6: Real-World Application Project

The final month involves building a complete model for a company you choose. You'll present your analysis to the group and defend your assumptions. This is where everything comes together and you discover what you still need to work on.

Lysander Beaumont discussing financial analysis techniques

From Templates to Understanding

"I'd been using Excel for two years but couldn't explain why my models were structured a certain way. This program forced me to think through each step instead of just copying formulas. The most valuable part was seeing how different analysts approach the same problem."
